Lewis and Clark in Kansas

School Programs

School Program Grants were awarded in June 2003 to 12 Kansas schools. The 12 grants of $1,000 were awarded to develop educational school programs that reflect the relevance of Lewis and Clark and the work of the Corps of Discovery. This military and scientific expedition to the Pacific Ocean and back was a multicultural, interdisciplinary adventure. By actively engaging in the study of the people, geography, cultures, and scientific knowledge of the 1804-1806 journey, students will rediscover the past, better understand the present and prepare for the future.
