Gateway to Kansas Marker
Many events of historical significance to the area are depicted on this 1965 marker. The sign features the Lewis and Clark encampment in 1804; the cabin of Louis Bartholet, the first white settler; the arrival of the Wyandotte tribe from Ohio; the first court house and post office and the Wyandotte Constitutional Convention in 1859. The sign is located between Fourth and Fifth Streets on Minnesota Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas.

Kaw Point in Kansas City, KSWyandotte County Historical Society Museum, Bonner Springs
The Wyandotte County Historical Society and Museum has been designated by the National Park Service as a Lewis and Clark Historic National Trail site. The museum is open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday - Saturday and located at 631 N. 126th Street, Bonner Springs, Kansas 66012. Tours may be arranged by calling 913-721-1078.

Kaw Point Project
Plans are underway to preserve and enhance the Kaw Point portion of the Lewis and Clark Trail through providing site clean-up, trail enhancement, infrastructure restoration, signage, historical interpretation, and visitor support services for the "Journey Fourth" signature event. Kaw Point will then provide future recreational and educational opportunities to residents of the Kansas City metro area, and Lewis and Clark enthusiasts who travel the trail.

Grinter Place State Historic SiteGrinter Place State Historic Site
Overlooking the historic Delaware Crossing on the Kansas River, the stately Grinter Place was home to Moses and Annie Grinter. Visit the brick farmhouse, built in 1862. It is located near the site of Grinter's Trading Post, where he traded with the Lenapi (Delaware) Indians. Annie, a Delaware, helped to farm, raise poultry and livestock, and plant an apple orchard. Schlagle Environmental Library
The Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Schlagle Library is located at Wyandotte County Lake Park. This Kansas City Kansas Public Library branch is a year-round interactive library, nature center and nature trail offering scientific, educational, cultural, informational and recreational opportunities to visitors of all ages. The library also features special art exhibits related to nature and the environment and a variety of programs for children and adults, located at 4051 West Drive, Wyandotte County Lake Park Kansas City, Kansas; telephone 913-299-2384.

Stained Glass Windows
The history from Lewis and Clark to present day is told in pictorial style with 10 stained glass windows in City Hall's second floor council chambers. The first window represents images from the earliest exploration and settlement of the Kansas City, Kansas area with four key images: the Frontiersman, Wyandot Tribe, the Confluence of the Rivers and the natural bounties of the land. 701 N. 7th, Kansas City, KS; 913-321-5800.

Three of The Top Five
Kansas City Kansas is home of three of the top five 2002 attractions in the state of Kansas.

The number one attraction in Kansas is Cabela's. Cabela's retail showroom is an 180,000 square ft. hunting, fishing and related outdoor gear store, that also houses a free 11,500 square ft. Coming in at the number three attraction in the state was Kansas Speedway. The 1.5 mile oval track hosts NASCAR and Busch racing in October and other events throughout the year. Rounding out the top five attractions in the state of Kansas is The Woodlands, a dual greyhound and horse racing facility.
